From the Notes

55 and Counting: Nick Martini extended his on-base streak to 55 games last night when he tripled in the fifth inning. He's hitting .328 (66-for-201) with 36 runs, 31 RBI, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs and 39 walks during the streak that is the longest in Minor League Baseball. The 55-game streak is the longest by a Nashville Sounds player in the Pacific Coast League era. Since MLBAM began tracking on-base streaks in 2009, Martini's 55-game streak is the 3rd-longest in professional baseball. The longest on-base streak in professional baseball since 2009 belongs to Andrew Velazquez of Single-A South Bend when he reached in 74 straight games in 2014.

Neuse Making Noise: Third baseman Sheldon Neuse has started to heat up at the plate recently. In his last 12 games, he's batting .367 (18-for-49) with 6 RBI, 6 runs, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run, and had a stretch of five consecutive multi-hit games. He began the day on June 14 with a .193 average and has boosted it to .230, the highest it has been since .273 after April 7, the third game of the season.

June is Jokisch's Month: Tonight's game one starter Eric Jokisch has had a solid month of June with an 0-1 record and 2.19 ERA (24.2 IP/6 ER) in four starts. The southpaw has 26 strikeouts in the 24.2 innings and has gone at least six innings in all four outings. If Jokisch reaches 30.0 innings in the month and gets his ERA under 2.00, he would become the 17th Sounds pitcher in the PCL Era to post a sub-2.00 ERA in a single month.

That's Offensive: Dating back to May 30, the Sounds have recorded 10+ hits in 11 of their last 13 games on the road. With five runs on 10 hits last night, Nashville is averaging 6.25 runs and 11.5 hits per game over the last eight games away from First Tennessee Park. Sandwiched in between those eight road games were four at home against Round Rock in which the Sounds averaged 3 runs and 6 hits per game.

Doubleheader History: Tonight's doubleheader is the first of the season for Nashville. They are one of only three teams (Reno, Las Vegas) in the PCL to not have played a doubleheader yet.

16th Starter: Last night's start by Norge Ruiz marked the 16th different starting pitcher the Sounds have had in 2018. In total, 31 pitchers have logged time with Nashville this year. Last year, 38 different pitchers spent time with Nashville and 23 different hurlers started at least one game. The most in the Athletics-affiliate era was when 40 different pitchers were with the Sounds in 2015.
