Brampton Steelheads News Release
Mississauga, ON - It was a tough night for the Steelheads at the Hershey Centre as Owen Sound Attack forward, Ethan Szypula scored four goals and an assist in a 10-2 win over Mississauga Friday night.
The Attack scored early and often, notching five goals in the opening frame. Szypula kicked off the scoring at 1:51, firing a snapshot passed former teammate, Jack Flinn. Jonah Gadjovich capitalized on the power play at 4:30 of the frame to make it 2-0 Owen Sound. Just over two minutes later, Szypula added his second of the night to put the Attack up 3-0 approaching the midway point of the first. With the Attack out to an early 3-0 lead, Joseph Murdaca would enter the game. Despite the goaltender change, the Attack continued to click as Justin Brack and Sean Durzi added the fourth and fifth Attack goals. Mason Marchment would get the Steelheads on the board before time ran out in the period. Daniel Muzito-Bagenda and Josh Burnside added the assists on Marchment's 18th of the season, as the Steelheads trailed 5-1 heading into the first intermission.
Szypula struck again early in the second with his third goal of the game for his first OHL career hat-trick. The goal at 2:38 into the middle frame restored Owen Sound's five-goal lead. The Attack would score their seventh of the night with 4:55 left to play in the second as Kevin Hancock notched his eighth of the year. Late in the frame, Szypula added his fourth of the night on the power play as the Steelheads found themselves down 8-1 after 40 minutes of play.
The final 20 minutes were slightly more favourable for the Steelheads, as Nic Hague added their second of the night on the power play at 5:50 into the period. Unfortunately that would be it for the Steelheads as Justin Brack and former Steelheads captain, Bryson Cianfrone each added a goal for a 10-2 final. The Steelheads will shake off this loss as they look to bounce back Saturday night when they visit the Barrie Colts.
