Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs defeated the Guelph Storm Saturday night in an entertaining 6-0 contest.
The IceDogs got off to a hot start Saturday night as they dominated the play right from puck drop and didn't let up. Vince Dunn, Anthony DiFruscia, and Stephen Harper got things started in the first period to put the Dogs up 3-0. They outshot Guelph 18-4 in the period, giving them more than they could handle.
The second period saw the Dogs continue to keep up their strong overall play as Harper would score again to put them up 4-0. The Dogs piled on the pressure and outshot the Storm 15-6 in the frame.
The third would see only more of the IceDogs players joining in on the scoring as Brendan Perlini and Josh Ho-Sang both widened the Dogs' lead with a couple of quick snipes. The Dogs would outshoot the Storm 24-8 in the period to cap off their 6-0 victory. Stephen Harper had a huge night for the Dogs as he finished with 2 goals and 3 assists, while Alex Nedeljkovic picked up his second shutout of the year and first in an IceDogs uniform with his 18 save performance.
IceDogs assistant coach Dave Bell reached his 900th game as a coach between the OHL, AHL, and ECHL on Saturday night. Billy Burke and Dave Bell just reached 400 and 600 games coached in the OHL respectively, while head coach Marty Williamson just reached 800. A big congratulation goes out to all three coaches on their major achievements.
The IceDogs will be back at home tomorrow afternoon with a 3:00 PM start time to face off against the Erie Otters, in a game that can be viewed on Sportsnet. Limited tickets are available and can be purchased at all IceDogs' ticketing locations.
