Erie Otters News Release

The Erie Otters third and fourth liners came up big as Nick Betz, Jordan Sambrook, Patrick Fellows and Haydn Hopkins each record two points in Erie's 4-2 victory. Jake Lawr was also solid in the blue paint as he stopped 24 pucks against the Saginaw Spirit.

Betz deflected in the opening goal with two and a half minutes left in the first period. Sambrook passed the biscuit to Brett Neumann who ripped the puck on net before Betz redirect the rubber and collect his 17th of the season.

Following a faceoff win, Blake Clarke broke loose and snapped a wrist shot past Lawr to knot the game at one. Less than two minutes after the Clarke's goal Mitchell Stephens found the back of the net to give the Spirit the advantage. However, Erie answered when Sambrook ripped a clapper over Evan Cormier shoulder to level the contest. Later in the second period Fellows scored his third goal of the season off of a feed from Hopkins to provide Erie a 3-2 lead. Fellows and Hopkins each recorded two points in the middle period.

Erie clung to their one goal lead in the third period as the Spirit logged 10 shots in the final frame. Lawr held strong to clinch a 4-2 Otters win following an empty net goal by Jake Marchment to extend his goal streak to three games.

Erie has limited time to regroup as they faceoff against the Niagara Ice Dogs at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.
