Ottawa 67's News Release

The Ottawa 67's fired plenty of rubber at the powerhouse London Knights on Saturday afternoon but fell 5-1 to a lineup heavy with NHL draft picks.

Ottawa kept pace with the Knights -- who sit third in the OHL's Western Conference but have more points than any Eastern Conference team -- on the shot clock, but the 67's ran into a hot powerplay, with OHL goals leader Christian Dvorak striking first to give the visitors the lead.

In front of another great crowd of 5,400 at TD Place, Leo Lazarev stopped 11 of 12 first-period shots he faced after backstopping his side to victory against Sudbury the night before.

The Knights struck three times in the second period to go up 4-0 while the 67's were stymied by goalie Tyler Parsons.

Coming into the game for Lazarev in the third, Liam Herbst was solid, stopping six of seven shots, with only Dvorak, with his second of the afternoon, beating him in the third period.

Coming off a three-point game Friday night, Nathan Todd got the 67's on the board in the third period with his 13th of the year.

Head coach and general manager Jeff Brown said his team ran into a very offensively-talented opponent.

"Five-on-five, we were okay," he said. "But you can't go out and play pond hockey against the London Knights."

Trailing Mississauga by just one point for home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs, the 67's are back in action on Monday night when they travel to Kingston to face the Frontenacs at 7 p.m.
