Syracuse Crunch Crunch Add Nicolas Deschamps and Artem Sergeev

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch have claimed forward Nicolas Deschamps off of AHL waivers. In addition, the Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned defenseman Artem Sergeev to the Crunch from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL. The announcements were made by Crunch general manager Julien BriseBois.

Deschamps, 25, has played 284 AHL regular season games with Hershey, Toronto, Syracuse and Iowa, totaling 147 points (52g, 95a). With Syracuse as a rookie in 2010-11, Deschamps posted 46 points (15g, 31a) in 80 games. He tacked on seven points in 31 Crunch contests the following season before the Anaheim Ducks dealt him to the Toronto Maple Leafs organization Jan. 3, 2012.

Deschamps collected 30 points (7g, 23a) in 40 games for the Western Conference champion Marlies to finish the 2011-12 campaign, adding another 12 points (3g, 9a) in 17 postseason battles; the Marlies fell to Norfolk in the 2012 Calder Cup Finals.

Fifty games and 16 points into the 2012-13 season, another trade landed Deschamps in Hershey with the Washington Capitals organization. He posted seven points in 16 games for the Bears to close the regular season, plus three points in five playoff games.

Re-signing with the Caps for 2013-14, he registered 40 points (15g, 25a) in 65 games for Hershey and made his NHL debut Feb.

27, 2014; he played two more games with Washington but did not score.

The LaSalle, Quebec native signed with Oulu Kärpät in Finland to begin this season, moving on to the Straubing Tigers in Germany and Vienna Capitals in Austria.

The 6-foot, 173-lb. left-handed shooter was drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Anaheim Ducks, 35th overall.

Deschamps will wear jersey No. 19 with Syracuse.

Sergeev, 21, has 18 points (6g, 12a), two game-winning goals and a plus-11 in 32 contests for the Florida Everblades this season.

The second-year pro from Moscow played all of last year with Syracuse, totaling 10 points (3g, 7a) in 68 games. He made his pro debut with Syracuse April 21, 2013, after three seasons of junior hockey.

The 6-foot-2, 203-lb. right-handed shooter recorded 86 points (18g, 68a) in 165 career regular season games in the QMJHL with Val-d'Or plus seven points (3g, 4a) in 17 career playoff games. He represented Russia in the Under 20 World Junior Championships, winning silver in 2011-12 and bronze in 2012-13.
