Syracuse Mets News Release
SYRACUSE, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs are proud to announce that the second inductee into the Chiefs Fan Wall of Fame will be Marty Nave. Marty will be inducted into the Fan Wall of Fame on Monday, September 3rd for the 2nd Annual Frederick J. Karle Fan Appreciation Day at NBT Bank Stadium. Fan Appreciation Day is also the last day of the regular season for the Syracuse Chiefs.
Marty is a life-long fan of the Syracuse Chiefs from the North Side of Syracuse. Marty started coming to Chiefs games at MacArthur Stadium in 1963 with his grandfather. Marty has been a season ticket holder of the Syracuse Chiefs for 35 years and in 1983, his first year a season ticket holder, he did not miss a single game. Marty is also a former shareholder of the Syracuse Chiefs and one of the organizations unofficial historians. Marty also served as the Director of the Syracuse Chiefs Booster Club and Knot Hole Club for a time.
"When I think of what it means to be a Chiefs fan, I think of Marty Nave," said Jason Smorol, general manager. "Marty loves the Chiefs - he supports the players, he supports the front office, and he supports his fellow Chiefs fans. We are lucky to have Marty as a part of our Chiefs community and I am honored to induct him into our Chiefs Fan Wall of Fame!"
Frederick J. Karle Fan Appreciation Day was established in 2017 and named after life-long Chiefs fan and season ticket holder, Fred Karle. The Fan Wall of Fame serves to capture and preserve the spirit of Fred and honor the Syracuse Chiefs greatest fans.
"My family and I wanted to support the organization that my father loved so much, and what better way to do that than by honoring the most important people in the Chiefs community - the fans," said Carol Nappi, daughter of Fred Karle.
Fan Appreciation Day is also Mangia Monday, so fans can purchase a $20 ticket package, including a 200-level ticket to the game and access to an all-you-can-eat buffet in the Hank Sauer Room for 7 innings. After the game, stay to watch 100 ladies dig for diamonds in the infield for the Diamond Dig. Fans can also enjoy food & merchandise deals during the game.
For tickets to Frederick J. Karle Fan Appreciation Day or any other regular season home game, please visit the NBT Bank Stadium Ticket Office or call 315-474-7833 during regular office hours or visit syracusechiefs.com anytime.
