The Bisons jumped on RailRiders starter Jhony Brito for a pair of runs in their half of the second inning. Estevan Florial launched a solo homer to right. Tim Locastro singled and was followed by an Oswald Peraza walk. Andújar then launched a three-run home run to give SWB a 4-2 lead. NEWS & NOTES
FIRST THINGS FIRST - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders welcome in the Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, for the first time this season. The RailRiders played their only series in Buffalo, NY in late April with the Bisons taking four-of-six games.
OVER THE HEDGE - The RailRiders find themselves with a 13-12 record in the month of June. It's the first time SWB has a winning record in a single month since they were 4-3 at the start of the season (April). During June, SWB had been .500 four times at 7-7, 9-9, 11-11 and 12-12. Thirteen wins in June is the most the RailRiders have had in a month this season (nine in each April and May).
MOVE AND GROOVE - The Yankees made multiple moves yesterday and today. Manny Bañuelos was designated for an assignment. JP Sears was called up, pitched, then was optioned back down. SECOND TIME'S THE CHARM - In the eighth inning of Tuesday night's game, Buffalo reliever Joe Biagini was charged with two pitch clock violations during an at-bat with Estevan Florial, who ended up walking. It was the first time this season a pitcher has been charged with two pitch clock violations in one at-bat during a RailRiders game.
KEN YOU DIG IT - Ken Waldichuk will make his first career outing against the Buffalo Bisons tonight as the RailRiders starter. He has made three away starts three starts at home where his road ERA stands at 1.65 versus a 3.95 mark at home. Waldichuk is the number six prospect in the Yankees system according to Baseball America.
TO YOU, ANDÚ, ANDÚ - Miguel Andújar launched a three-run home run on Tuesday that gave the RailRiders a 4-2 lead in the fifth. It came on the seventh pitch of the at-bat. In his prior (3rd inning) at-bat against the same pitcher (Casey Lawrence), Andújar saw 14 pitches, fouling off 10 of them before flying out to center. In his four plate appearances on Tuesday, Andújar saw 28 total pitches.
WIZARD OF OS - Oswald Peraza finds himself on a ten-game hitting streak and an eleven-game on-base streak. The ten-gamer is a season-best, surpassing a six-game streak he set from April 28 to May 5.
