Buffalo Bisons News Release

MOOSIC, PA - Playing in the second game of a six-game series, the Buffalo Bisons fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 5-3 on Wednesday night from PNC Field.

The Herd came out firing with three doubles in the first inning, but only one came around to score off Scranton starter Ken Waldichuk, who ultimately lasted 4.1 innings while giving up one run and four walks, though he did strike out seven.

Mike Ellenbest began the night with two shutout innings before giving way to Bowden Francis, who would give up four runs (three earned) over 2.2 frames in addition to five strikouts. Gabriel Ponce threw 2.1 innings giving up a run, while Tayler Saucedo had a 1-2-3 eighth with a pair of K's.

An RBI double by Oswald Peraza and two RBI knocks for Miguel Andújar - the latter of whom continued to punish Bison pitching with a 3-4 night - gave Scranton a 4-1 lead heading into the seventh.

Eric Stamets would cut the lead to two with a solo homer to lead off the seventh, but Estevan Florial led off his half of the inning in the very same fashion to reclaim Scranton's three-run lead.

Stamets would begin the ninth with a leadoff double, and after an infield single by Samad Taylor, the Bisons had runners on the corners with one away and the tying run at the plate. Jordan Groshans brought one run in on a fielder's choice, but Shane Greene would get the next batter to ground out to end the ballgame.

Otto López had three hits and reached base in his first four plate appearances, including two doubles, a walk, and a stolen base, while Groshans and Stevie Berman reached base four and three times respectively.

The Bisons will look to win their first game of the series tomorrow night, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. EST.
