RHP Taylor Cole (2-0, 4.85) vs. RHP Cade Cavalli (3-3, 4.87)

TRYING TO TAKE FLIGHT: Rochester dropped the series opener to Worcester Tuesday night, 4-2...the Red Wings have now lost five-straight series openers dating back to Memorial Day (5/30 vs. BUF)...RHP Anibal Sanchez made his second start on this Rehab Assignment (first w/ FCL Nationals on 6/23)...Sanchez pitched 2.2 innings, giving up three runs (two earned) in the loss to the Woo Sox...LHP Carson Teel, RHP Mason Thompson, RHP Matt Brill, and RHP Patrick Murphy pitched a combined 6.1 innings, allowing just one earned run...second baseman Jake Noll hit the game's only home run, launching a solo shot in the sixth inning...outfielder Donovan Casey was the only Wing with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 in the loss...Rochester falls to Worcester for the first time this season (6-0 prior).

CAN'T TOUCH THIS: With six more strikeouts last night against Worcester, Wings' pitchers have struck out 101 batters over their last 10 games, the most of any team in Triple-A over that span...RHP Anibal Sanchez (3) and RHP Mason Thompson (2) both contributed with multiple Ks, last night.

LIFE AFTER LUIS: SS Luis Garcia is batting .333 (33-for-99) since being called up by the Nationals on June 1...his .333 mark is the second-best batting average on the team (1B Josh Bell .337) and 15th best in the Big Leagues since his call-up date...over their first 49 games of the season, the Red Wings averaged 5.2 runs per game...since losing Garica, the Wings are averaging just 3.8 runs per game (24 games)...Rochester has scored two runs or fewer in five of their last ten games.

STEVENSON SOLSTICE: Outfielder Andrew Stevenson hit his league-leading 21st double in the Wings' loss...Stevenson leads all qualified Wings with a .309 (83-for-269) batting average and his 83 hits are tied for the second-most in the International League (four back of Memphis outfielder, Alec Burleson, 87)...dating back to the beginning of June, Stevenson has collected 32 hits in 95 at bats (.337) with 13 extra-base hits (eight doubles, one triple, four home runs) and 16 RBI...four of his six homers this season have come this month.

THE OTHER MASE: RHP Mason Thompson made his third rehab appearance with the Red Wings, pitching two innings and allowing just two hits while striking out a pair, last night...the righty's two innings pitched was his longest outing this season...since starting a Major League-Rehab Assignment with Rochester on June 22, Thompson has given up just two hits in four innings of work...the 24-year-old has a strikeout in each of his four innings with the Wings and 11 strikeouts in 6.2 innings of Minor League-rehab (16 K/9), dating back to 6/13 with the FCL Nationals.

DONO-CAN: Outfielder Donovan Casey went 2-for-4 in last night's contest...Casey now has hits in back-to-back games after not playing since June 10...the Nationals' prospect was the only Red Wing with multiple hits in the loss.

WE STAN THE RED WING FAITHFUL: Last night's 6,805 fans were the most at a Red Wings Tuesday game since opening day (4/12: 8,170)...through 37 home games, the Red Wings have had 183,600 fans in attendance this season...the month of June has already surpassed both April (33,237) and May's (69,109) attendance with 81,254 fans in June, the most in a single month since June 2019 (96,672)...June 2022 included the first time since 2018 that Frontier Field has eclipsed 30,000 fans over a three-game span (June 2-4: 30,093).

MISSED OPPORTUNITIES: Last night, Buffalo (first place) and Lehigh Valley (tied second) both lost as Rochester missed out on a chance to gain ground in the division...tonight was one of just four times this season that BUF, LHV, and ROC all lost on the same day (6/28, 6/12, 6/9, 4/15).

- Worcester scored all four runs with two outs in last night's game against the Wings, earning their first win against Rochester since September 25, 2021 (seven games)...the Nationals' top affiliate went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

NOLL'S KNOCKS: With a solo shot in the sixth inning of last night's 4-2 loss, Jake Noll extended his hit streak to eight games, his longest of the season and tied for fifth-longest of any Red Wing this year...over that span, the righty has hit .281 (9-for-32), collecting five extra-base hits (three doubles, two home runs) and six RBI...prior to the start of the streak (6/19), Noll was batting at just a .196 clip (11-for-56) through 15 games in June.

HERE COMES CAVALLI: Red Wings' top pitching prospect RHP Cade Cavalli will get the start for the first time since June 16 as the Red Wings look to even up the series against Worcester...over his last five starts (since May 22), Cavalli has just a 2.17 ERA, giving up one run or fewer in four of those appearances...the 23-year-old has faced Worcester once this year, pitching 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out six in the Wings' win...when the Oklahoma-native gives up one or fewer runs his first time through the order, he has just a 2.08 ERA (9 ER/39 IP) in those outings this year (seven starts)...in five starts where the Nationals prospect has given up more than one run his first time through the order, he has a 10.94 ERA (18.1 IP/22 ER)...the Wings are 5-2 when he starts strong (1 or 0 runs first time through order) and 1-4 when he struggles the first time through the order (2+ runs first time through order).
