LAST TIME OUT: It was a pitcher's duel between the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and Lehigh Valley IronPigs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, but one swing from Trevor Plouffe was the decisive blow as SWB drop the series-opener, 3-2.

Each starting pitcher was handed a no-decision despite tossing matching six-inning, two-run performances. Enyel De Los Santos entered the game with an International League-leading 1.63 ERA and exited with it at 1.73. Josh Rogers meanwhile allowed a pair of early runs, but then settled-in and used plenty of flashy defense behind him to exit with the game tied 2-2. Following the outing, he ranks third in the I.L. with 86.2 innings pitched.

The two blemishes off of De Los Santos were a pair of solo home runs. With the RailRiders trailing 2-0 out of the gate, Bruce Caldwell got Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on the board with a blast tucked inside the foul pole in right field for his third homer in 19 games in Triple-A. A few innings later, Rey Navarro drilled a fly ball to right field that just snuck out over the top of the wall to even the score, 2-2.

Lehigh Valley plated a pair of early runs off Rogers in a first inning that didn't start off so threateningly. After the southpaw retired the first two men he faced on a groundout and a flyout, Colin Cowgill, Joey Meneses and Plouffe rapped three consecutive doubles for a 2-0 lead.

STRONG 'PEN: The RailRiders continue to get a strong performance out of its bullpen over the last week. In 7G since June 17, the bullpen arms not named Giovanny Gallegos have combined for 16.2 IP, 7 H, 2R/2ER (1.08 ERA), 3 BB, 20 K (10.8 K/9). Gallegos has struggled over his last three appearances, allowing runs in all 3G: 4.2 IP, 7 H (7-for-21, .333 BAA), 4R/4ER, 0 BB, 8 K.

ROLLING ALONG: The Scranton Wilkes/Barre RailRiders headed to Frontier Field in Rochester, N.Y. for the first time this season Friday night. The RailRiders had won three straight series entering the weekend set against the Rochester Red Wings, starting with taking 3-of-4 from Rochester June 11-13. Over the 13 games entering this week's series with the IronPigs, the RailRiders carried a 9-4 record which was tops in the International League in that time. The RailRiders left after the suspended game, having not lost any of their last four series.

CONTINUITY: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders are starting to come together and play as a unit in the month of June (12-10) after sub-.500 records in April and May. Part of that can be attributed to a lower number of roster moves per day than what the team was experiencing at the start of the season. 36 roster moves over 23G in April (1.57/G) // 52 roster moves over 29G in May (1.79/G) // 30 roster moves over 22G in June (1.36/G)

NEEDING SOME LENGTH: Due to Monday's off-day, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders bullpen was well-rested entering Tuesday's game even though the pitching staff has not been able to provide much depth at the start of games. LHP Josh Rogers is the one pitcher who has consistently given SWB starts that save the bullpen. This season, Rogers has gone 6.0+ innings in 10-of-15 (66.7%) of his starts, while the rest of the team has just 11 such starts in the other 59 games (18.6%).

POWERING UP: In the blink of an eye, the SWB RailRiders are the leading HR-hitting team in the International League. At the end of April, the team had 15 HR in 23G (0.65 HR/G) which was good for 6th in the 14-team I.L. Since then, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre has 59 HR in its last 50G (1.18 HR/G) including 27 in 22G so far in June (1.23 HR/G).
