Hagerstown Suns News Release

Hagerstown, MD - After dropping six consecutive contests, the Hagerstown Suns (38-30) walked off on the Delmarva Shorebirds (35-33) in game three of their final first-half series with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th by LF Randolph Oduber on Friday night at Municipal Stadium.

Suns LHP Robbie Ray, who did not factor into the decision, went 5.0 innings and surrendered one earned run on seven hits, while walking one and fanning four.

The Shorebirds hung a run in the top of the 3rd inning when 2B Mike Mooney was hit by a Ray offering. A wild pitch put Mooney into scoring position at second base before LF Ty Kelly, as part of a 2-for-5 night at the plate, roped an RBI single into center field to plate Mooney.

LHP Tim Berry went 5.0 scoreless innings and allowed two base hits amidst three walks and six strikeouts. Berry would also not receive a decision.

Hagerstown tied the game 1-1 in the top of the 6th stanza when 2B Adrian Sanchez rattled a ground ball up the middle to get on board at first base. RF Bryce Harper, who went 2-for-3 with two singles, drew a walk before 1B David Freitas knocked an infield single to the hole at shortstop. This set up an Oduber 6-4-3 double play ball, that although did not give Oduber an RBI, knotted the contest.

In the last of the 9th inning, the Suns loaded the bases with a Freitas single, an Oduber walk, and an intentional free pass issued to SS Jason Martinson. With the winning run at the third base in the form of the pinch-runner, Mills Rogers, DH Kevin Keyes struck out looking, C Cole Leonida popped up to the Delmarva 1B Mike Flacco, and CF Michael Taylor lofted a popout to Shorebirds C Michael Ohlman.

RHP Ben Graham (2-3), the winning pitcher, pitched a scoreless 10th inning, in which he allowed one hit and fanned two.

LHP Asher Tolliver (1-2), the losing pitcher of record, got just one out in the home half of the 10th frame as 3B Blake Kelso laced a soft single into shallow right field. Kelso advanced to second base on a passed ball through Ohlman. Sanchez deadened a sacrifice bunt to the right of the pitcher's mound to get Kelso to third base with one out. Harper was then intentionally walked before Rogers drew a base-on-balls to load the bases. Oduber would culminate the extra-inning effort with a frozen rope through the left side of the infield to plate Kelso, the winning run, ensuring the Suns a 2-1 walkoff victory.

Hagerstown is now (4-3) in their extra-inning contests in 2011 after their fourth walk-off victory this season.

The Suns will welcome the Shorebirds in game four on Saturday night with a 7:05pm first pitch.
