HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads won their sixth straight game with a 10-2 victory against the Charleston RiverDogs, before 2,552 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Friday night. With the win, the 'Dads remain tied with the Greensboro Grasshoppers for first place in the Northern Division with only two games remaining in the first half.

After RHP Cody Buckel (W, 3-2) struck out the side in the top of the first, the Crawdads (39-27) got the bats going right away in the bottom of the first against RHP Richard Martinez (L, 0-2). 2B Odubel Herrera doubled his way on with one out, before All-Star DH Tomas Telis belted a two-run homer to put the 'Dads in the 2-0 lead.

Buckel struck out the side in the second inning again, before Charleston (25-43) got on the board in the third. RF Kelvin De Leon led off the frame with a long-ball of his own, cutting the Crawdads lead in half, 2-1.

Hickory responded with two more tallies against Martinez in the fourth inning. Telis led off with a single, moved to second on a base hit by 1B Andrew Clark and took third when RF Josh Richmond worked a walk to load the bases with one away. CF Jake Skole then plated a run on an RBI fielder's choice and also reached base safely on the play as the throw went home but was not in time, keeping the bases loaded. LF Alejandro Selen followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to center, driving in Clark from third and making it 4-1.

The Crawdads kept swinging away with six runs against the reliever RHP Manny Barreda in the bottom of the fifth. SS Jurickson Profar took a walk to start the frame and stole second to get in scoring position. Herrera drove in Profar with an RBI base hit and then promptly swiped second base as well, before charging home on an RBI single from Telis. 3B Christian Villanueva followed with an RBI triple off the left-field wall, plating Telis from first and making it 7-1. One out later, Richmond skied a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing in Villanueva for the 8-1 advantage. Hickory wasn't done in the frame, as Skole singled and Selen drew a walk, before C Kellin Deglan plated both runners with an RBI double to right field, pushing the 'Dads lead to 10-1.

RHP Colby Killian took over on the hill to start the sixth inning for Buckel, who exited with eight strikeouts and only one run allowed on five hits through his five frames. Killian retired the first two of the inning, but 3B Rob Segedin kept the stanza going with a solo home run to make it 10-2.

RHP Nick McBride followed with a scoreless seventh, before RHP Jorge Marban slammed the door by retiring all six that he faced in a row through the eighth and ninth frames, closing the Crawdads 10-2 win.

Segedin increased his hitting streak to a career-best eight games, going 3-for-4 with a home run.
