
Suns Rally to Win Over BlueClaws in Ninth

Lakewood, N.J. â The Lakewood BlueClaws (1-5) jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then led 5-1 against the Hagerstown Suns (6-0) but couldn't hold the lead losing 7-6. The Suns rallied to tie the game then win in the bottom of the ninth on Darren Watts RBI single.
The BlueClaws offense got rolling early plating four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. After Sean Gamble drew the two out walk Jason Drobiak stepped in and connected for an RBI triple. Jason Jaramillo then walked and Sam Orr drove both Drobiak and Jaramillo in on a two run double giving the BlueClaws a 3-0 lead. Ryan Frith would follow up with an RBI double of his own and Lakewood led 4-0.
The Suns would get one run back in the bottom of the second on Mike Carps lead off home run, his third of the year and second in two days.
Lakewood would make it 5-1 in the fourth on a crazy play where the manager P.J. Forbes would actually when an argument with field umpire Adam Moscaritolo and Chad McDonald.
It happened when Suns shortstop Ryan Coultas tagged out Frith then threw over to first to retire Kiel Fisher to end the inning. After Forbes came out to discuss it over with the two umpires, Moscaritolo and McDonald ruled Fisher was safe and the inning continued. John Hardy would then step in and connect for a double and runners were on second and third with two outs. Fisher would then score on Coultas throwing error when Greg Golson grounded to short and the BlueClaws were up 5-1.
The Suns would plate three runs in bottom of the fifth highlighted by a three run home from Corey Coles to make it 5-4. The BlueClaws would increase the lead to 6-4 but the Suns would tie it up in the eighth. Coultas connected for an RBI double to cut the lead to one. With two outs Wilson Batista would connect for a single then Coultas would score on Hardy's throwing error tying the game up at 6-6.
Andy Baldwin (0-1) in his second start of the year allowed four runs on seven hits through five innings while striking out two for the no decision. Corey Dueitt (0-1) allowed three runs on five hits over the course of two innings to record the loss in relief. Carlos Muniz (1-0) picked up the win in relief for the Suns.
The BlueClaws wrap up their series with the Suns this afternoon. On the mound for the BlueClaws will be the right-hander Carlos Carrasco (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 P.M. with on air time at 12:50 P.M.
This season, the Lakewood BlueClaws are celebrating their fifth anniversary of providing great fun in the Jersey sun. Among the other great promotions this year, fireworks after every Friday night home game sponsored by Toyota World / Scion World of Lakewood. In addition, the BlueClaws will host games against affiliates of the New York Yankees and Mets.
