April 12, 2005 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Lexington Legends News Release

Hunter Pence belted two home runs and added a double to lift Lexington to an 8-0 win over West Virginia Tuesday night. Pence's multi home run night was the first for a Legend in 2005. Lexington also received solo shots from Saul Torres and Mario Garza to give Lexington a season high of four in a game.

Ronnie Martinez (1-1) also shined. The right-hander surrendered one hit in seven innings of work. Martinez struck out a season high nine batters in the game. Paul Estrada worked the final two scoreless innings.

The Legends got started early with a run in the first on Scott Robinson's RBI single. Garza' solo shot made it two nothing after two. Pence doubled the score with a two run homer in the third.

Pence' three run shot in the fifth inning made it 7-0 and one out later, Torres finished the scoring with a solo home run.

The Legends have won two straight to even their record at three wins and three losses. The Legends staff struck out 14 batters. It's the fourth time they've had double–digit strikeouts in a game. The shutout was Lexington's first of the season.

The Legends will seek the sweep on Wednesday night. Juan Gutierrez will face lefty Greg Kloosterman. The first pitch is set for 7:05, network coverage begins at 6:50.

It's "Winning Wednesday" at Applebee's Park. If Lexington wins, everybody still at the park after the conclusion of the game will leave with a coupon for a free Chick Fil-A sandwich. The gates open at 5:30.
