Sugar Land Drops Series against Long Island with 5-1 Loss

Sugar Land gave up the series against Long Island with the 5-1 loss in yesterday's game. The Skeeters now sit with a 58-46 record overall and continue to lead the Freedom Division in the second half even after the loss.

Steve Hammond started on the mound for the Skeeters and pitched for 6.0 innings. The left-hander gave up five runs on seven hits with two errors.

Brian Barton (1x3) scored the team's only run of the game in the top of the third. The center fielder was hit by a pitch to advance to first and then scored after a triple to right field by left fielder Ryan Langerhans (1x4).

Andrew Johnston stepped in as relief for Hammond at the bottom of the seventh and tossed 2.0 innings. The right-hander allowed one hit but did not give up any runs.

The Skeeters return home today to begin a six-game series against the Riversharks. Sean Gallagher (0-2. 5.91 ERA) will start on the hill for Sugar Land in the 7:05 p.m. CT. game at Constellation Field.
