Bluefish Drop Series Opener to York

(York, PA) - The Bridgeport Bluefish were defeated by the York Revolution 4-2 on Friday evening at Santander Stadium.
Bridgeport's center fielder James Simmons led off the game with a single and came around to score on third baseman Sean Burroughs's RBI double to give the 'Fish an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The score would remain 1-0 until the top of the fourth inning when catcher J.R. Towles led off the inning with a double, moved to third base on second baseman Ramon Castro's single and came home after designated hitter Luis Lopez grounded into a double play to give Bridgeport a 2-0 lead.
York responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to give the Revolution a 3-2 lead, highlighted by a two-run double by right fielder Justin Greene. York added a fourth run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-out RBI double by Greene and despite Bridgeport putting two runners on in scoring position in the top of the ninth inning with one out, York reliever Rommie Lewis closed out the game to pick up his 28th save of the season.
Bridgeport starting pitcher Hunter Jones (5-10) took the loss for Bridgeport, allowing four runs off eight hits in six innings pitched. York's starter Scott Gorgen (5-7) earned the win, allowing two runs off six hits in six innings pitched for the Revolution.
Bridgeport will play the second game of the three-game series against York on Saturday August 15th with first pitch at 6:30pm. The Bluefish return to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard to begin a seven-game home stand on Monday, August 18th as they face the Long Island Ducks for the first of a three-game series, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm.
