Subban Confident in Shootout Win
January 10, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
PROVIDENCE, RI- Malcolm Subban had his best performance as a Providence Bruin, turning away 41 of the 42 shots thrown his way, in addition to blanking the Falcons in the shoot out.
Emotions ran high towards the end of the period and culminated when Anthony Camara and Phil Lane squared off in the offensive zone. Considering
Austin Czarnik scored his 10th of the season to put the P-Bruins on the board midway through the second period. Alexander Khokhlachec passed to Brandon Defazio who controlled the puck behind the net then found Czarnik on the right face-off dot. His one timer zipped by the outreached glove of Treutle.
The P-Bruins only maintained that lead for two minutes, when Jordan Szwarz evened things for the Falcons with a big blast from the left point slipping past Subban.
It was a quiet third period, with no goals or penalties for either team. Tied 1-1 after regulation, the game headed into 3v3 overtime. The P-Bruins managed to stone wall the Falcons, even when it turned into 4v3 with Acciari in the box, to force the shoot out.
Subban denied all three Springfield skaters, and Khokhlacehv found the back of the net on Providence's second attempt to give the P-Bruins the win. This is the 9th home win in a row for Providence.
The P-Bruins are back home at the Dunk this Friday January 15th in a match up against the Albany Devils
