San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN JOSE - The San Antonio Rampage (16-14-7-0) outlasted the San Jose Barracuda (16-11-2-3) in overtime, as Reid Petryk scored the game-winner in front of 4,878 at the SAP Center. Sunday's game was the first scoreless regulation game for the Rampage since Mar. 27, 2015. With the win, San Antonio finished the weekend with 4-of-6 total points.
Both teams were scoreless in the first period, combining for 15 total shots. The Silver and Black had two opportunities with the man-advantage but didn't find the back of the net. The second stanza mirrored play from the first, as both teams found themselves scoreless going into the second intermission.
Thanks to some acrobatic goaltending from Spencer Martin, the Silver and Black finished 60 minutes of regulation with zero goals for the first time this season.
San Jose controlled the puck for most of the overtime, but Martin remained strong between the pipes. The Rampage goaltender made four saves in the extra frame, buying opportunities for San Antonio's offense. The Silver and Black finished the Barracuda as Petryk found a lane and went upstairs on San Jose's Aaron Dell.
Martin finished the game with 21 saves and recorded his first shutout of the season, earning the First Star of the Game. Petryk finished the weekend with six total points in three contests, and one game-winner, earning the Second Star of the Game.
Notes
Sunday's win was the first overtime victory for the Rampage since Halloween night, when Ben Street landed a game-winner against the Ontario Reign in the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Lineup Notes
San Antonio's lines shifted after their 6-4 loss to the Barradcuda on Saturday night. Dennis Everberg, Marc-Andre Cliché, and Reid Petryk skated on the top line, while Mason Geertsen, Colin Smith, and Trevor Cheek anchored the second line. Michael Schumacher, Sam Henley, and Dan Maggio skated on the Rampage's fourth line, while Nikita Zadorov defended with Maxim Noreau. Spencer Martin got the start in net for San Antonio.
