WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Matia Marcantuoni and defenseman Harrison Ruopp have been reassigned from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Also, forwards John McCarron and Patrick McGrath have been reassigned by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Wheeling, and goalie Casey DeSmith has been released from his professional tryout contract.

Marcantuoni, a second-year pro, has earned seven points (3G-4A) in nine games with Wheeling this year. The Woodridge, Ont. native also has one goal and two assists for three points in five appearances with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.

Ruopp has been assigned by Pittsburgh to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton twice this season, but has not appeared in any games with the Penguins. The third-year pro earned two goals and two assists for four points as well as 61 penalty minutes in 27 games with the Nailers this season.

McCarron, a rookie out of Cornell University, played in two games for the Penguins this season. McCarron has appeared in 29 games for Wheeling this season, earning seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. The rookie is also tied for the Nailers' team-lead in shots (101).

McGrath, a native of Shavertown, Pa., played in three games for his hometown team this season, putting up 12 penalty minutes in that time. In 24 games with the Nailers this season, McGrath has tied a career-high with three goals, and he leads the team with 73 penalty minutes.

DeSmith, 24, is in his first season of professional hockey and joined the Penguins on a PTO on Dec. 18, 2015. In two games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, DeSmith posted a 1.50 goals against average, a .935 save percentage, and won his first career game in his first career AHL start.

DeSmith has appeared in two games with Wheeling this year. The rookie posted a 2.01 goals against average and .923 save percentage in 89:33 of game time.
