Williamsport Crosscutters catcher Bob Stumpo is a candidate for the best name in all of Minor League Baseball in the 5th Annual MiLB.com Moniker Madness bracket-style tournament.
A total of 64 players started the tournament with Stumpo stomping Auburn's Angelberth Montilla in Round 1 and Mets farmhand Tobi Stoner in Round 2.
Stumpo now advances to the Round 3 and the Sweet 16, going against Seth Schwindenhammer of the Lowell Spinners. Fans can vote in Round 3 through August 15 at www.minorleaguebaseball.com/madness or just click on the link at crosscutters.com.
"This is the first time the Williamsport Crosscutters have had a current player in the contest," said Gabe Sinicropi, the team's VP of Marketing and Public Relations. "We're going to do our best to spread the word far and wide to help Stump get over the hump."
The Moniker Madness tournament finals are August 23-25.
