
Crosscutters Top IronBirds, 7-3

Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Aberdeen, MD - The Williamsport Crosscutters scored four runs in the seventh inning, breaking a 3-3 tie on their way to beating the Aberdeen IronBirds, 7-3.
Williamsport scored in the top of the first inning. Bob Stumpo hit a two out single, and scored on an Aaron Altherr RBI single, making it 1-0 Crosscutters.
Aberdeen tied it in the bottom of the inning. Glynn Davis hit a leadoff single and scored two batters later on a Mychal Givens RBI groundout.
The IronBirds took the lead in the bottom of the second. Wynston Sawyer worked a leadoff walk and then scored on an Adam Davis RBI single, and it was 2-1 Aberdeen after two innings of play.
The Crosscutters took the lead in the top of the third. Luis Amaro hit a single and then scored on a Stumpo ground out. Kyrell Hudson, who reached base on a fielder's choice, scored on Altherr's RBI single, as Williamsport led 3-2.
The lead would stand until the bottom of the fourth. Adam Davis hit a one out home run off the roof of the visitor's clubhouse, tying the game at three. It was Davis' first career home run.
Williamsport seized the lead for good in the seventh. They sent nine batters to the plate, scoring four runs on five hits, as they went on to win the game, 7-3.
Matt Campbell got the win in relief for the Crosscutters, improving to 1-0. He pitched three innings, allowed three hits while striking out two.
Jose Mota got the spot start for the IronBirds. He pitched four innings, allowed five hits, three runs (all earned), striking out three. Zach Petersime takes the loss, falling to 0-3. He pitched one and a third innings, allowed five hits, four runs (all earned), walking one.
Game two of this three game series will take place tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Matt Hobgood (0-3, 11.02) will get the start for the IronBirds. The Crosscutters will counter with Bryan Morgado (1-0, 2.15)
