Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters pounded out 12 hits in a 7-3 victory over the Aberdeen IronBirds Friday night to pick up their 31st win of the season.

The Cutters notched a run in the top of the first, as Aaron Altherr's two-out RBI single made it 1-0. Aberdeen answered with a run in their half, as Glynn Davis singled and scored on a groundout by Mychal Givens. The IronBirds added another run in the second on a one-out RBI single by Adam Davis.

Williamsport plated two runs on three hits in the third to regain the lead 3-2. Bob Stumpo's RBI groundout and Altherr's second RBI single of the night were the difference-makers in the inning. The IronBirds knotted it up in the bottom of the fourth on Davis' first home run of the year.

The score stayed tied until the top of the seventh, when the Cutters collected five hits and a walk to plate four runs and go up 7-3. Taylor Black, Pete Lavin, and Stumpo all delivered RBI singles in the productive frame.

That score would be the final, as Matt Campbell and Colton Murray combined to pitch five scoreless innings of relief. Campbell picked up his first professional win in the effort.
