Stranded Runners Haunt Senators in 5-2 Setback

The Senators equaled their season-high in hits with nine but left 11 runners stranded in their 5-2 loss to Altoona Thursday night. The offense put at least one base runner on in every frame but went 1-for-15 with runners in scoring position. With the loss the Senators dropped to 5-10 this season while Altoona improved to 9-5.

On Capitol Hill

Luis Reyes took the hill to start the game. He dazzled in the first and third innings, combining to throw just 12 pitches between the two frames. He worked into the sixth inning allowing three runs on six hits. Nick Wells went 1.2 innings and allowed a pair of runs on pop up double that was lost in the twilight. Pearson McMahan pitched two scoreless innings to finish the game.

With the Gavel

Humberto Arteaga had three hits for the Sens including two doubles leading off innings. Drew Mendoza and Jakson Reetz both had two hits with one of the two by Mendoza a double. The Senators had four doubles in the game and had a hit in seven of the nine frames.

Filibusters

The Senators defense didn't commit an error for the fifth time in the past nine games. They turned three double plays to raise their season total to 14. Osvaldo Duarte and Drew Mendoza both had stolen bases for the Senators. Harrisburg put their leadoff man on base five times but only scored once.

On Deck

The Senators play game four of a six-game series against Altoona Curve Friday night at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio Harrisburg 96.5FM 95.3FM and 1400AM beginning at 6:40 p.m.
