Stortini returns to Hamilton

November 22, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

The Edmonton Oilers announced today that the club has reassigned forward Zack Stortini to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Stortini, 21, was recalled by the Oilers on Monday, November 20th, and was with the team for Tuesday night's contest against the Calgary Flames, but did not take part in the game. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound native of Elliot Lake, Ontario, has appeared in 16 games this season with Hamilton, posting six points (6-0-6) including a career-high six goals and 60 penalty minutes.

Drafted in the 3rd round, 94th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Stortini was the Edmonton Oilers fifth choice and is now in his second full professional season but has yet to play a National Hockey League game in the regular season.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.

The Bulldogs next game is at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25th when they take on the AHL's first place team the Rochester Americans at Copps Coliseum. Tickets for this game and all 'Dogs home games (except home game #32) are available at the Copps Coliseum Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet, online at www.ticketmaster.ca, or through charge-by-phone at 905-527-7666.
