Columbus Recalls Balastik and Platt

Syracuse, NY (November 22, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled right wing Jaroslav Balastik and center Geoff Platt. The team also announced that right wing Steven Goertzen has been returned to Syracuse from the Blue Jackets.

Balastik, 26, has scored a goal and registered two penalty minutes in six games with the Blue Jackets this season. Columbus' ninth pick, 184th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft, he has registered 13 goals and 10 assists for 23 points with 28 penalty minutes in 72 career NHL games, including 12 goals and 10 assists in 66 games with the club in 2005-06. In six games with Syracuse this season, he has tallied 2 goals, 3 assists and six penalty minutes.

Platt, 21, has appeared in 13 games with Syracuse this season, recording 9 goals, 4 assists and 10 penalty minutes. He appeared in two games earlier this season with Columbus, without recording a point. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Platt was signed as a free agent by Columbus on November 23, 2005.

Goertzen, 22, has appeared in seven games with Columbus this season, tallying 10 penalty minutes. In 11 games with Syracuse, Goertzen has recorded 2 goals, 2 assists and 38 penalty minutes. A native of Stony Plain, Alberta, Goertzen was drafted by Columbus in the seventh round, 225th overall, in the 2002 Entry Draft.
