
Knights Battered By Wolves, 6-3

The Chicago Wolves came to Omaha with the best line in the American Hockey League and proved it on Wednesday night. Jason Krog, Darren Haydar and Brett Sterling scored every Chicago goal in a 6-3 win over the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights on Wednesday night at the Civic Auditorium.
The Wolves were on the board at 9:05 in the first period as Krog scored his 14th goal of the season off the assist from Jimmy Sharrow.
Omaha's Kris Chucko answered less than two minutes later on the powerplay to tie the score at 1-1 with help from Brad Ference and Carsen Germyn.
Another two minutes ticked off the clock, and Chicago had the lead back as Darren Haydar scored off assists from Nathan Oystrick and Krog.
Exactly four minutes later, Sterling knocked in a feed from Haydar to make it 3-1.
Omaha owned the scoring in the second period with two goals in the first two minutes.
David Van der Gulik slipped a shot past Wolves' goalie Fred Braithwaite off the feed from Derek Couture and Warren Peters to pull the Knights within one 41 seconds into the period.
David Moss then scored just 41 seconds later with assists coming from Dustin Boyd and Tomi Maki to tie the game at three.
The Wolves jumped back in front at the start of the third period. Krog scored his second of the game at 2:55 and Sterling scored 49 seconds later to make it 5-3. Sterling completed the hat trick with an empty net goal at 18:45.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights return to action on Friday when they visit the Peoria Rivermen for a 7:30 p.m. face-off. The Knights and the Rivermen will be back at it on Saturday night at the Civic Auditorium. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item to the game to help out Operation Others. Everyone who does will receive a free ticket voucher good for any of the Knights' upcoming home games.
Tickets for all Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' games are on sale at the Omaha Civic Auditorium box office Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets also are available through all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (402) 422-1212. Kids 12 and under get in free with a paid adult on tickets purchased after 5:00 p.m. Other restrictions apply.
