Tri-City Storm News Release

Youngstown, Oh. - The Tri-City Storm scored the first two goals of the game and used 20 saves by Jake Kielly to open the weekend with a 2-1 victory over the Youngstown Phantoms.

Kielly, who yielded a goal early in the third, recovered while the Storm defense allowed six shots in the final frame. The 19-year-old netminder has helped Tri-City earn points in nine straight contests.

Max Humitz scored on his first shift as a Storm forward and Wade Allison scored his 17th of the season, giving the winger points in a league-best seven straight games.

The Storm remains hot on the road, garnering points in eight straight away games, the longest stretch in the USHL this season.

Humitz made an early impression on his first shot, ragging the puck from the left post behind the net and backhanding a wrap around over Colin DeAugustine's shoulder at 5:54 of the first. Jack McNeely and Monte Graham earned the assists.

Acquired on February 2 from Muskegon for John Sladic, the 20-year-old Humitz is up to eight goals and 14 points.

After killing off an early-second period power play, the Storm continued its second-period momentum courtesy of Wade Allison, who took a long Kielly save, accelerated up the ice and shot a short-post shot from the right dot past DeAugustine.

The unassisted goal at 3:27, Allison's 17th of the season, gives the forward 16 goals and 24 points in his last 24 games. DeAugustine made 24 saves in defeat.

From there, Tri-City's defense took hold; after the Phantoms' Luke McInnis scored two minutes into the third, the Storm allowed four shots.

The Storm gave up two power plays after the Phantoms pulled within one, but Tri-City held Youngstown to 0-for-4 on the man up. Tri-City's power play was 0-for-2 against the Phantoms.

The Storm takes on the Phantoms Saturday at 6:05 p.m, with the Viaero Wireless Pregame Show at 5:45 p.m. Tri-City is next at home on Feb. 19 against Sioux Falls for Thunderstruck Night, with a Free Kids Friday and a special thunderstick giveaway.
