Hawks Blitzed by Bucs
February 5, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Des Moines Buccaneers scored four of their five first period goals within a 2:02 span, dashing past the Waterloo Black Hawks 6-3 at Buccaneer Arena Friday.
Nikita Pavlychev scored the first and last goals of the opening period, both from close range, beginning at 12:13. Three other Buccaneer tallies were wedged in between from Justin Howell, Patrick Grasso, and David Keefer by 14:15. The lone Waterloo goal came on a long shot in transition by Zach Yon at 17:26. Pavlychev's second tally was swatted in with 1:41 remaining before intermission.
Nick Swaney recorded the only goal in the second at 10:41, redirecting a slap-pass by Sam Rossini past the left skate of Nick MacNab.
The three-goal margin was maintained during the third period as the teams exchanged goals. Zach Jordan added to the lead temporarily with a breakaway shorthanded marker at 9:35. Shane Bowers drew that goal back during a net-mouth scramble at 17:26.
Saturday, the Black Hawks wrap up their weekend on home ice with a 7:05 game against the Madison Capitols. ABC's The Bachelor, Chris Soules, will be the guest of honor, presented by Simply 'I Do' in Cedar Falls. It's also a College Night, with $8 game day seats for students with ID. For tickets, call the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680.
