Thunder Rolls into Michigan

February 5, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Bloomington Thunder News Release

MUSKEGON, Michigan - Friday night from Muskegon, the Bloomington Thunder begin a two game road trip against the Lumberjacks from the L.C. Walker Arena. The 6:15 p.m. (7:15 p.m. EST) puck drop gives Bloomington (21-12-3-1) an opportunity to continue their six-goal outburst from Saturday night in Omaha. The Lumberjacks (14-16-2-2) are in the final spot of the United States Hockey League's Eastern Conference, looking to improve on their 2-7-0-1 streak.

Listen live to all Thunder games this season by going to portal.stretchinternet.com/wjbc/. Tonight's broadcast begins at 5:45 p.m. (6:45 p.m. EST) for pregame coverage. Games will also be broadcast with live video on FastHockey.com. Don't forget to check out the Thunder's Twitter account, @BLMThunder, for updates during the game with our hashtag #BLMvsMUS.

A bounce back win for Bloomington saw six goals scored against the Omaha Lancers including four unanswered for a 6-3 win. Logan Lambdin took home his seventh multi-point game of the season and his second four-point night of the year after scoring two goals and two assists in the win. The Carleton, MI native is tied for the team lead in goals with 16 and second on the team in points with 27 (16g, 11a) behind Tarek Baker (University of Wisconsin). The Verona, Wi native has had a great sophomore season for the Thunder averaging just under a point a game with 32 (16g, 16a). As a key component to the Thunder's recent offense, the Verona, WI native, Lambdin, and defenseman Jeremy Davies (Northeastern University) are all above 25 points this season.

The recent acquisition by the Thunder is predicted to make his Thunder debut against his former team. The Lumberjacks sent defenseman Christian Hausinger to Bloomington for a Phase II draft pick earlier in the week. Hausinger is in his first USHL season and has played in 35 games on the blue line between the Lincoln Stars and the Lumberjacks.

Muskegon has made a few trades before the USHL trade deadline at the end of February. They sent leading defenseman Trevor Hamilton (Penn State University) to the Chicago Steel, only to have him flipped to the Lincoln Stars after two games in Chicago. Hamilton accounted for 25 points (6g, 19a) from the back end. Also sent away was four year USHL vet Max Humitz (Lake Superior State University) to the Tri-City Storm. The moves made room for three additions, Grant Gabriele (Western Michigan University), Lucas Michaud (University of Maine), and Tyler Irvine.

Still with the 'Jacks is leading scorer Rem Pitlick (University of Minnesota) and top rookie Collin Adams (University of North Dakota). Pitlick has 43 points (24g, 19a) and leads the USHL in goal scoring and points. Adams is second only to Youngtown's Cameron Morrison (University of Notre Dame) for rookie of the year honors with 31 points (14g, 17a).

NEXT HOME GAME: Friday, February 12th - 7 p.m. - The Thunder battle with the Green Bay Gamblers to open a weekend series from the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Doors open at 6 p.m. and until puck drop there are $1 draft beers and soft drinks at the Coliseum concession stands. Tickets start at $10 for the game and could go even lower with youth, senior, and military discounts. Call the Thunder office at (309) 434-2980 for more information and the best deals on tickets.
