
Mirageas Selected for All-American Prospects Game

BLOOMINGTON, Illinois - The BloomingtonThunder will have a player featured among the top 42 American prospects for thesecond season in a row. Ben Mirageas(Providence College) will represent the Thunder in the 2016 CCM/USA HockeyAll-American Prospects Game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia,Pennsylvania on Thursday September, 22. Mirageas will suit up at thePhiladelphia Flyers home arena as one of the top 2017 NHL Draft prospects inthe country.
Mirageas,18, played in four games for the Thunder last season as an affiliate.Originally a 2nd round selection in the 2015 USHL Phase I Draft, the6-foot-1 blue liner was a top defenseman at Avon Old Farms School last season.Over 24 games, he tallied six goals and 16 assists for 22 points.
TheUSHL will have 34 players connected to the league represented in Philadelphiafor the game. 25 players from the 2015 game were then taken in the 2016 NHLDraft including 10 in the opening round.
TheNewburyport, MA native is no stranger to wearing red, white, and blue, helpingTeam USA take silver at the Hlinka Memorial Cup and grabbed an assist in thefinal game. Mirageas also represented Team USA at the 2015 U17 Five NationsTournament, where the team was undefeated and took home Gold. TheThunder defenseman follows in the footsteps of Mitchell Mattson (University of North Dakota, Calgary Flames) whoskated in the 2015 Prospects game. Mattson was selected in the 2016 NHL Draftby the Calgary Flames.
