Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI - Graham Lillibridge, Collin Adams, Dante Palecco, Robbie DeMontis, Matej Paulovic, and Tyler Irvine registered multi-point games, while Joey Daccord made 36 saves to help the Muskegon Lumberjacks blast the Bloomington Thunder 6-3.
The Thunder jumped on the Lumberjacks early in the first period. Bloomington's lone top prospect participant Vlad Dzhioshvili, gave the Thunder a 1-0 on the first odd man rush of the game. Muskegon quickly responded when Dante Palecco bashed in a rebound for his sixth goal of the season. Robbie DeMontis and Graham Lillibridge registered the assists for an all Yale commits goal. However, the Thunder took a 2-1 lead into the locker when Tarek Baker scored an unassisted breakaway goal. It was Baker's sixth goal against the Lumberjacks this season.
Lumberjacks goaltender Daccord kept Muskegon in the game during the second period. He made a number of breakaway saves to keep the Lumberjacks within one goal. Then, with under one minute to go in the second period, the USHL leading goal scorer Rem Pitlick netted his 25th of season backhanding a rebound past Thunder goaltender Hayden Lavigne. Collin Adams recorded the primary assist on the goal, while Lillibridge double his point total for the evening with the second assist.
The Lumberjacks picked up right where they left to start the third period. Matej Paulovic netted an unassisted power play goal when he won the faceoff to himself, and dangled around the Bloomington defense to give Muskegon a 3-2 lead. Eight minutes later, Paulovic netted his second goal of the game with a one-timer from Adams in the slot.
Bloomington's Ryan Brushett would score quickly after to make it a one-goal game. However the Lumberjacks would finish off the Thunder with another goal from Palecco, and an empty net goal from Robbie DeMontis, to knock off the Thunder 6-3.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (15-16-4) will look to build off of tonight's success when they rematch with the Bloomington Thunder (21-13-4) tomorrow night. The L.C. Walker Arena will host their Beard and College Night when puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
