Storm Acquires Kris Waltze and Trades Chad Wilchynski

(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the East Coast Hockey League today announced that the team has acquired left winger, Kris Waltze, from the Wheeling Nailers in exchange for forward, David Del Monte. In a separate transaction, the Storm activated Chad Wilchynski from the injured reserve and traded him to the Charlotte Checkers for future considerations.

Waltze (6'00/210) (24), picked up 1 goal, 1 assist, and 77 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Reading Royals this season before being released. Wheeling selected Waltze off waivers, and then traded him to the Storm. In 234 pro games, Waltze has racked up 1098 penalty minutes. His most productive season to date was in 1999-00 when he scored twelve goals and added seven assists and picked up 286 penalty minutes in 52 games with the San Angelo Outlaws, then of the Western Professional Hockey League. It is expected that Waltze will join Toledo for the Storm's next game-Friday, December 20 at Wheeling.

Del Monte, who was acquired by the Storm when he was released by the Lexington Men O'War, played six games with Toledo and scored one goal. Wilchynski picked up four assists and 30 penalty minutes in eight games this season with Toledo before injuring his knee in a game against the Dayton Bombers on October 27.
