Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder announced today that its First Annual Thunder Goes Pink Weekend will be held Friday, November 3, and Saturday, November 4. One dollar from every ticket sold at the Arena will be donated to promote breast cancer awareness.

Thunder Goes Pink presented by St. Joseph's Medical Center in association with Pacific Car Wash and Golden Bear Insurance Company will use two Thunder home games to help spotlight and raise funds to support breast cancer awareness.

"Pink Weekend promises to be a spirited weekend of hockey, while at the same time addressing such an important cause as breast cancer awareness," said Thunder team president, Dan Chapman. "The Stockton Thunder values its role as a community partner and we're thrilled to be joined by so many dedicated sponsors for this hallmark weekend of events."

The team, and its signature partner St. Joseph's Medical Center, are joining together to raise funds for the St. Joseph's Foundation Mobile Mammography Unit and the American Cancer Society - Stockton Field Office.

In addition to the donation from ticket sales, the Thunder players will wear specially designed warm-up jerseys which will be auctioned off for the charities. Commemorative t-shirts will also be sold with $5 from each t-shirt being donated to the beneficiaries.

Giveaway items during the Thunder Goes Pink Weekend will also help promote the cause. Among the premiums planned are Thunder pink ribbon baseball caps for the first 2,000 female fans each night. More giveaways and activities will be announced closer to the event date.

Additional sponsors of the weekend of special events include: Port of Stockton California, Clearwire, Delta St. Joseph's Women's Imaging Center, Rotary Club of Stockton, Service 1st Bank, and the City of Stockton.

Each year over 200,000 new breast cancer cases are reported according to reports published by the American Cancer Society. Each year more than 40,000 women die from the disease, making it the second leading cancer killer among women.

"Thunder Goes Pink provides a perfect opportunity to further our mission and reach women with the important message of early detection and treatment" said Jerri Randrup, St. Joseph's spokesperson. "Breast cancer has robbed our community of too many women and we aim to reverse that trend with the addition of our Mobile Mammography Unit, reaching all women regardless of their ability to pay."

The Thunder currently has ticket packages available which feature many of the top promotional nights starting as low as $65. For more information about tickets, merchandise, or other inquiries contact the Stockton Thunder offices at (209) 373-1500 or visit www.stocktonthunder.com.
