Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have announced that forwards Travis Lisabeth, Justin Aikins, and Scott May have each agreed to terms on contracts for the 2006-07 season. In addition, the RoadRunners have announced that center Liam Lindstrom has been assigned to club by the Coyotes.

Lindstrom, 21, tallied three goals and seven points in 40 games last season with Hammarby IF of the Swedish League. Drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the fourth round at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the third-year pro has spent his entire professional career in his native Sweden following a three-year stint with Mora IK of the Swedish Junior Hockey League. Lindstrom has five goals and 11 points in 88 games. He is the son of former NHL forward and two-time Stanley Cup champion Willy Lindstrom.

Lisabeth, 26, led the Columbia Inferno last season with 32 assists and finished fourth on the team in scoring with 18 goals and 50 points in 60 games in his only season with the club after spending the previous four years with the Mississippi Sea Wolves. Lisabeth began the 2005-06 season as a member of the Edinburgh Capitals of the United Kingdom's Elite Ice Hockey League and tallied eight goals and 10 points in the Capitals' first 18 games before signing as a free agent with Columbia on Nov. 18. The Langton, Ontario native and sixth-year pro ranks among Mississippi's all-time leaders in goals, assists, points, and games played, and holds the Sea Wolves' club record with five assists in a single game set back on Dec. 4, 2005 against the Texas Wildcatters. Lisabeth has produced 108 goals, 235 points, and 571 penalty minutes in 355 career games.

Aikins, 24, was acquired by the RoadRunners from the Long Beach Ice Dogs on June 5 to complete the trade that sent forward Ben Knopp and defenseman Dave Cousineau to Long Beach at the end of last season. The Surrey, British Columbia native and second-year pro tallied 20 goals and 59 points in 67 games during his rookie campaign in 2005-06 to finish second on the Ice Dogs in scoring and 14th overall in the ECHL rookie scoring race. Acquired from Columbia on Nov. 24, Aikins flourished in Long Beach where he recorded 52 of his 59 total points. A former sixth round draft choice by the Columbus Blue Jackets at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Aikins was selected to the National Conference roster that participated at the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game in Fresno, Calif.

May, 24, appeared in 53 regular season games last year, including 34 with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, and finished with seven goals and 15 points. After opening the season with the Trenton Titans and notching four goals and nine points in the club's first 19 games, May was loaned to Milwaukee on Dec. 15 for the duration of the season and the AHL playoffs. A native of White Rock, British Columbia, the third-year pro May averaged nearly a point a game in 2004-05 as a member of the Pensacola Ice Pilots with 14 goals and 28 points in 29 games following his assignment from the St. John's Maple Leafs. Selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the seventh round at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, May was a four-year standout at the Ohio State University from 2000-04 where he enjoyed three consecutive seasons with 30 or more points. He has recorded 22 goals and 46 points in 103 career games.
