North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays (12-7-0-1) erased two one-goal deficits, but could not overcome the Kalamazoo Wings (11-6-0-1), falling 5-3 in front of 2,531 at the North Charleston Coliseum Friday night. Forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien and defenseman Nick Tabisz each had a goal and an assist for the Stingrays. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak and six-game home winning streak.

K-Wings forward Kory Karlander potted the game's opening goal on the power play at 13:26 of the first period tapping in a loose puck past Stingrays goaltender Daren Machesney (L, 20 saves on 25 shots) along the bottom of the right-wing circle. Forward Brandon Svendsen and defenseman Sam Ftorek picked up the assists.

Forward Steven Anthony put the K-Wings up 2-0 on the man advantage at 6:44 of the middle frame from Ftorek. The Stingrays cut the lead in half on the power play at 8:59 when O'Brien batted home a rebound off of K-Wings netminder Maxime Clermont (W, 22 saves on 25 shots) along the right post. Forward Danick Paquette and defenseman Zach Tarkir assisted on O'Brien's ninth goal of the season.

Forward Dean Strong reclaimed a two-goal lead for the K-Wings on the power play at 4:37 of the final period from Svendsen and defenseman Eric Kattelus. The Stingrays responded with two quick tallies to make it 3-3. Rookie Sean Dolan netted a man-advantage marker at 12:03 from defenseman Nick Tabisz and Tarkir. Moments later, Tabisz registered his second goal of the season from forwards O'Brien and David de Kastrozza at 15:19.

With less than two minutes to play, Karlander buried the game-winning goal deflecting a shot from defenseman Joe Charlebois past the blocker of Machesney at 18:03. Svendsen acquired the second assist. Forward Darryl Bootland added an unassisted tally at 18:56 to seal the victory. The Stingrays finished the night 2-for-7 on the power play while the K-Wings went 3-for-7.
