
South Carolina's Grubauer Named ECHL Goaltender of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J - Philipp Grubauer of the South Carolina Stingrays has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Month for November.
Grubauer was 6-1-1 with one shutout, a 1.73 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage in eight appearances for the Stingrays in November.
He opened the month with three straight victories, including a 26-save performance in a 1-0 shutout of Toledo on Nov. 5. He also finished the month with three consecutive victories over Gwinnett, including stopping 35 of 36 shots in a 6-1 win on Nov. 20.
The 20-year-old is tied for second in the ECHL this season with nine wins. Grubauer is second in the league with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .935 save percentage.
A native of Rosenheim, Germany, Grubauer was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Nov. 6. A fourth-round selection (112th overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Grubauer has played in 11 games with the Stingrays this season, posting a record of 9-1-1. Prior to this season, he spent three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, compiling a record of 52-36-10 in 105 games with Belleville, Windsor, and Kingston.
Runners-Up: Darcy Kuemper, Ontario (5-1-0, 1.67 GAA, .946 save pct.) and Olivier Roy, Stockton (3-1-2, 2.09 GAA, .935 save pct.).
