Stingrays Weekly; Stingrays Head Out For Life On The Road

The Stingrays nine game unbeaten streak came to an end this week and hosted their first three-in-three weekend at North Charleston Coliseum for a week record of 0-4. South Carolina traveled to Charlotte Wednesday for their first visit to Time Warner Cable Arena and fell to the Checkers 7-0 as Charlotte goaltender Miika Wiikman knocked aside all 36 Stingrays shots. The Stingrays returned home for weekend home stand with visits from Gwinnett and Johnstown. On Friday, the Stingrays came out strong with goals from Matt Fornataro and Nikita Kashirsky and fired a season-high 42 shots on goal, but Gladiator forward Tom Zanoski recorded a hat trick and secured a 5-2 victory. The Gladiators repeated that same score Saturday night to sweep the two game series. Stingrays forward Matt Scherer and defenseman Dylan Yeo netted goals and rookie forward Rob Ricci recorded two assists in the loss. The Johnstown Chiefs came to North Charleston for the only time this season and skated away with a 7-1 victory over the Stingrays. Chiefs defenseman R.J. Anderson recorded his first professional goal and hat trick. Ricci started the scoring early in the contest with his sixth of the season, but Johnstown responded with seven of their own for the victory. South Carolina travels to Gwinnett on Tuesday to face the Gladiators before heading up north to battle the Chiefs and the Toledo Walleye over Thanksgiving weekend. The Stingrays are 6-1-0-2 when playing in visiting arenas.

South Carolina saw their nine game unbeaten streak end Wednesday night in a 7-0 loss at Charlotte.

Stingrays goaltender Todd Ford stands 2nd in the ECHL in minutes played with 698 and ranks 3rd in saves with 311.

Stingrays rookie forward Nikita Kashirsky is 4th among ECHL rookies with 16 points and ranks 4th in shots with 69.

Defenseman Zach Tarkir ranks 10th among ECHL defenseman with 11 points and is first on the team with five power-play points.

Stingrays Drop Final Game of Home Weekend 7-1 to Johnstown

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (9-6-1-3) fell to the Johnstown Chiefs (4-8-3-0) 7-1 Sunday night in the final game of a three-in-three weekend at North Charleston Coliseum. Chiefs defenseman R.J. Anderson recorded a hat trick and had a game-high five points in the victory.

Stingrays Make Multiple Roster Moves

North Charleston, SC - The Kelly Cup Champion South Carolina Stingrays announced today that goaltender Braden Holtby has been sent to the team from the Hershey Bears, forward Trent Campbell has been recalled by the Worcester Sharks and defensemen Patrick Wellar has been called to Hershey.

Stingrays Physical Play Not Enough Against Gladiators

North Charleston, SC -The South Carolina Stingrays (9-5-1-3) fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators (8-3-1-1) 5-2 Saturday night in the second game of a three-in-three weekend at North Charleston Coliseum. Stingrays forward Rob Ricci registered two points as South Carolina dropped their third straight contest.
