Toledo Walleye News Release
(TOLEDO, OH) - The Toledo Walleye are pleased to announce that Olympic Hero and former Toledo Goaldigger, Mike Eruzione will be coming to the Toledo Walleye game on Saturday, December 12. The appearance comes nearly 30 years after Eruzione helped Team USA win the gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.
Mike will drop the ceremonial first puck of the game in his first visit to the brand new Lucas County Arena. Mike will also be signing autographs during the game (go to toledowalleye.com for further details on specific times of autographs).
Eruzione is looking forward to his first visit to Toledo's new arena. "I'm excited to come and see the new rink and also to come back and see old friends and players still living in the area. Toledo has always been a great hockey town and the Goaldiggers fans were great."
Toledo Walleye President/General Manager Joe Napoli said, "Mike's visit will inspire many great memories for our fans of a time in our history when the U.S. and Russian relations were most tense and the Olympic Games were very meaningful...the underdog collegiate Americans proved that we hadn't lost the American "can do" attitude" at a time when our Country had its' doubts. I look forward to sharing the story with my children."
