
Stingrays Roll Past IceMen for Sixth-Straight Victory

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (24-18-1-6) pushed their winning streak to six games with a 3-2 win over the Evansville IceMen (12-32-4-2) the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
The IceMen opened the scoring early in the first period when forward Robin Soudek caught a pass at the right post of Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaitis (W, 22 saves on 24 shots) and tucked in his 15 goal of the season at 3:56. Stingrays forward Caleb Herbert evened the contest at 14:07 slipping past the defense, cutting to the top of the goal crease and sliding a shot past the left pad of IceMen goaltender Chris Driedger (L, 36 saves on 41 shots). Forward Rob Ricci and defenseman Frankie Simonelli added assists. Defenseman Drew MacKenzie gave the Stingrays a 2-1 lead smashing a feed from forward Derek DeBlois past Driedger at the left-wing circle. Forward Andrew Rowe added the second assist.
In the third period, Stingrays forward Braden Pimm made it a two-goal lead on the power play at 6:59 with help from Simonelli and Rowe. With under a minute to go and Driedger on the bench for the extra attacker, Soudek pulled the game back within one knocking a rebound between the legs of Jakaitis at 19:13.
The Stingrays square off against the Orlando Solar Bears on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 17-18 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida for crucial East Division standings points. Both contests start at 7:00 p.m. Listen to all the action LIVE at StingraysHockey.com and ECHL.TV.
