February 15, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (32-16-0-2) fell for the second night in a row to the Stockton Thunder (16-32-1-0), 4-2, on Saturday night at Stockton Arena.
Thunder forward Garet Hunt was the first to find the back of the net, from the circle, off of an Eagles turnover to take the 1-0 lead just 7:50 into the first frame. Eagles forward Chris Knowlton answered with a power-play goal with some help from fellow forward Taylor Vause to tie the game, 1-1, 12:52 into the first. Stockton wasted no time in taking back the lead, 2-1, as forward Tyler Maxwell beat Eagles netminder Doug Carr as he was sandwiched by a couple of players with 5:32 left in the first. At the 17:05 mark of the first, Vause found himself on a shorthanded breakaway and bested Stockton goalie Kent Simpson to tie the game 2-2.
With just over five minutes to go in the second period, Stockton defenseman Keith Seabrook fired a shot from the high slot to beat Carr glove-side high, shorthanded and gain the 3-2 edge over the Eagles.
The final goal came with only two minutes left in regulation, Colorado had Carr pulled for the extra attacker and the Thunder sent the puck toward the Eagles net as Hunt picked it up and scored an empty netter to secure the 4-2 victory over Colorado.
