Colorado Eagles News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. -The Colorado Eagles (33-16-0-2) rallied behind a stellar performance from goaltender Doug Carr to shutout the Stockton Thunder (16-33-1-0), 3-0, on Sunday night at Stockton Arena.
The scoreless tie was broken with 1:52 remaining in the first period when Eagles forward Kyle Kraemer tipped a slapshot from the point on the power play to beat Thunder netminder Kent Simpson, giving Colorado the 1-0 advantage.
Colorado took a 2-0 lead when Kramer fed linemate Vitalijs Pavlovs in front of an empty net who tapped the puck home to score his first goal of the series 8:40 into the second period.4:12 later, Eagles forward Chris Knowlton dangled around a would-be Stockton defenseman and beat Simpson low on the power play, giving Colorado a 3-0 lead.
Doug Carr stole the show during a scoreless third period to secure his first shutout of the season, stopping all 29 shots thrown his way. Kramer and teammate Marc Nemec each recorded two points, joining Taylor Vause who had a three point night to power the Eagles past Stockton. With the win, the Eagles now lead the Ontario Reign by three points and the Idaho Steelheads by six points for first place in the Pacific division.
