Stockton Thunder News Release
Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder are able to take the first two games of the weekend's three-in-three against the Colorado Eagles, but are not able to complete the sweep as the Eagles defeat the Thunder 3-0 Sunday evening at Stockton Arena. Kent Simpson started his third-straight game since being loaned back to Stockton on January 11 and showed no signs of fatigue. Quotes
"That's a game we could've won tonight. We didn't seem to have the same jump and weren't snapping the puck like we did in the first two games. We can't be happy with just two wins in this case." - Goalie Kent Simpson on the weekend as a whole.
"I was fine. It's really more mental than anything and it's all about staying loose and relaxed. My timing was a bit off my first night back, but I felt like my normal self these last two nights." - Simpson on starting three games in three nights since returning from Bridgeport.
"It was a disappointing start tonight because I thought we were sloppy out of the gate. We were a better team after about ten minutes in, but by that time you already dig yourself a hole. Three-in-threes are never easy and when you get two big wins and go against a shorthanded team, maybe some of our guys thought it was going to be easy." - Head Coach Rich Kromm on his view of tonight's effort.
"Their power play scored twice and ours didn't get on the board. Their goalie also played well when he needed to and made it tough for us to get it by him. Special teams was the main difference tonight I thought." - Coach Kromm on the difference between tonight and the last two nights.
