South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - As the 2006-2007 season progresses, the South Carolina Stingrays have the chance to get out in the community more. The players are taking advantage of those opportunities this weekend as they are out to support various causes in the Low Country.
On Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Brendan Bernakevitch, Jamie Fraser, T.J. McElroy, and Scott Romfo, along with Cool Ray, will be attending Alice Birney Middle School to visit with the sixth grade class "The Stingrays" as they celebrate their academic achievements.
Also on Friday, the rest of the team and coaches Jason Fitzsimmons and Jared Bednar will be out all day participating in the Charleston Youth Hockey Association Golf Tournament out at Crowfield. The tournament is being held in order to help hockey in the Low Country by raising money to off-set the costs associated with playing the sport.
Saturday morning, you will find Josh Anderson, Viktor Dovgan, Jamie Fraser, and Daren Machesney out at the Heart Walk in downtown Charleston. The players, with Cool Ray, will be at Liberty Square to visit with the participants of the event. You'll find them out by the children's booths starting at 8 a.m.
After playing the Columbia Inferno on Sunday, the Stingrays are back in town Monday night and back out in the community. Nate Kiser, Cail MacLean, Cam McCaffrey and Davis Parley will be out at Blackbeard's Cove in Mt. Pleasant. Blackbeard's Cove is a proud sponsor of the Stingrays Kid's Club and is bringing the players and Cool Ray out to play. They will be there from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. to sign autographs and hang out. Blackbeard's Cove has everything from miniature golf to arcade games, to go karts and more, so come out on Monday night!
The Stingrays next home game is November 7 as they take on the Gwinnett Gladiators for the fourth time this season. It's Firehouse Bar and Grill Night with $10 tickets anywhere in the Coliseum, $2 beers, and 2 for 1 hotdogs. Purchase your tickets today through Ticketmaster at 554-6060.
