Trenton Devils News Release
JOHNSTOWN, PA (November 3, 2006) - The Trenton Titans saw their three-game winning streak come to an end as they were defeated, 7-3, by the Johnstown Chiefs in front of 2,215 at the Cambria County War Memorial
After a scoreless first period the Chiefs opened the floodgates with a 4-for-6 performance on the man-advantage in the middle frame. Gus Katsuris got the scoring started picking up a loose puck in the slot and firing it past Joel Martin at 3:48 of the second.
The Titans would answer in kind on the power play a 1:41 later when Les Haggett fed Mike Pandolfo for a one-timer that knotted the score 1-1. The goal extended Pandolfo's scoring streak to three games and his point streak to five games.
From there Dave Spina would find the back of the twice, while Maxime Boisclair also got in on the action - all on the man advantage - to make it 4-1 Chiefs after two periods of play.
After Randy Rowe deposited his third goal of the season just 1:13 into the third period, Trenton displayed the beginnings of a comeback. Benoit Mondou helped the Titans cut the Chiefs' lead back to three goals twelve seconds later when he tipped Chris Cava's pass through the five-hole of Johnstown goalie Morgan Cey for his first pro marker.
Mondou would then work the give-and-go with Hagget at 3:45 of the period to make the score 5-3 in favor off Johnstown, but the Titans would be unable to get any closer.
The Titans finished 2-for-8 on the man advantage while going just 9-for-14 on the penalty kill.
The Titans return home to host the Reading Royals on Saturday, November 4 at 7:00pm. Tune in to hear all of the Titans action live on 91.3FM-WTSR or listen or watch live via B2 Networks at www.trentontitans.com
