Gladiators Fretter named ECHL Rookie of the Month for October

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators rookie forward Colton Fretter has been named ECHL Rookie of the Month for October after scoring in all five of Gwinnett's games this season.

Fretter tied a Gladiators team record with 4 goals in a 6-3 win over the South Carolina Stingrays on October 29th. He also had a goal in Gwinnett's 4-0 shutout win over Columbia on Saturday night after a two point (1g, 1a) night on Friday night at South Carolina in an 8-3 win over the Stingrays.

Fretter scored his first professional goal on the power play in the Gladiators 6-5 loss at Augusta on October 21st and had his first professional point, an assist, in the Gladiators opening night win over South Carolina on October 20th.

The Harrow, Ontario native currently shares seventh overall in scoring in the ECHL and ranks first among rookies in scoring. His six goals places him in first in that category among rookies as well.

Drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 8th round of the 2002 NHL draft and under contract to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, Fretter played four seasons at Michigan State University where he had 112 points off of 43 goals and 69 assists in 159 collegiate games.
