Stingers Win Fourth Straight as Binger Deals

July 1, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Willmar Stingers News Release

Willmar, Minn. - On a perfect night for baseball In Willmar the Stingers and the St.Cloud Rox did battle in what turned out to be one of the best pitching performances from a Stingers' starter in 2018.

Corey Binger (Minnesota St) was unbelievable, dealing eight shutout innings, striking out five Rox and not allowing a single free pass the entire night. Binger in the eighth got into some trouble but worked out of it forcing the Rox into a key 5-4-3 double play. At the end of the night Binger finished with 90 pitches, 62 of which were strikes. Binger also got the win.

Offensively John Trousdale (Alabama) continued to hit the ball hard, blasting a mammoth three run homer over the right field wall in the fifth inning, the homer marks his second in as many nights.

In the ninth Dylan Oliver (Alabama) came in for relief, the Rox scored three runs off of Oliver but in the end he got Ben Carew (Kent State) to strike out to end the ninth and the game.

Willmar will now start a two game series with the Eau Claire Express tomorrow night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The 2018 Stingers season is presented by Marcus Construction. For more coverage of the Stingers visit the West Central Tribune online at www.wctrib.com.
