
Stingers Serve Rox Their Second Loss of the Season

ST. CLOUD, MN - The Willmar Stingers continued their winnings ways by defeating the St. Cloud Rox, 3-1.
St. Cloud, who stands at the top of the Great Plains West, was handed their second loss of the season. The Rox now have a record of 10-2, meanwhile, Willmar is over .500 for the first time this season at 7-6.
Fans were treated to another gem of a pitching performance as the Stinger pitching staff had another incredible day on the mound.
Jack Habeck started his second game and got his third win of the season. The MinnWest Technology Campus Player of the Game went eight innings, striking out three, while only giving up one run. Dylan Matela came in the ninth and completed the save giving him his first of the season.
Not only has Willmar won four straight, but today's game also marks the fourth straight game that the Stingers haven't given up more than four runs. The pitching staff is starting to gel nicely in Willmar.
On the offensive end, Drey Dirksen stayed ablaze getting another RBI in the top of the third. Aidan Byrne also got an RBI in the inning, giving him 12 on the year.
Joey Walls continued to shine in a Stingers uniform. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebel hit 3-4 on the game with a big fly in the top of the ninth.
St. Cloud's lone run came from a home run from center fielder John Nett in the bottom of the eighth.
The Rox travel to Willmar tomorrow for the second game of the series. The first pitch will take place in Bill Taunton Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
