Sting Add Three in Draft

Sarnia, ON. - Three new faces joined the Sting organization today amid the first day of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection.

Round 1: Pick 13 - Angus MacDonell, Toronto Marlboros

The Sarnia Sting with their first selection in the OHL draft chose 5'10" centerman from Toronto, Ontario, Angus MacDonell. Totaling 23 goals and 9 assists in 27 games, MacDonell, captain of the Toronto Marlboros, is sure to make a positive impact on the ice this coming season.

Sting General Manager Dylan Seca states, "We are extremely happy and excited to have Angus join our organization. He is a player that we targeted in this Draft. He has a high-end compete level combined with excellent character and leadership. We see a skilled, two-way centre that our fans in Sarnia will really enjoy to watch on the ice.

Round 2: Pick 30 - Ben Lalkin, Toronto Jr. Canadiens

With their second selection, the Sting were overjoyed to add another power forward, Ben Lalkin, to the organization.

"Ben is a highly competitive, skilled forward who loves to score goals. He is a great teammate and a player we feel can play in all positions. We are more than thrilled he was still available with our pick in the second round," comments Director of Player Evaluation Mark Filippone.

Lalkin, standing at 5'9", tallied 34 goals and 15 assists in 18 games for his hometown Mississauga U15 Reps during the previous season. Lalkin was a member of the East Coast Selects O from 2016 to 2019, finishing with 20 points throughout the duration.

Round 3: Pick 52 - Alexis Daviault, Navan Grads

With their final selection on the first day of the 2021 OHL Draft, the Sting were excited to add defenceman Alexis Daviault to the roster.

The 5'11" Ottawa native finished the 2019-20 season with 11 goals and 6 assists in 28 games with the Eastern Ontario Wild. Alexis is very solid on the blueline and is determined to make an impression on the ice this season.

Kyle Crane Director of Player Personell adds, "Alexis is without a doubt one of the best skating defenceman in the draft. He has great puck skills, his mobility is outstanding, and we love his ability and skill set to play on the powerplay."

The draft continues Saturday, June 5th with rounds 4-15 beginning at 9:00am EST.
