Guelph Storm Select Chase Coughlan 59th Overall.
June 4, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Guelph Storm News Release
In the third round 59th overall, the Guelph Storm is proud to select Chase Coughlan of the Toronto Marlboros.
Height: 5'11
Weight: 185lbs
Shoots: Right
Hometown: Schomberg, ON.
Position: Right Wing
The first thing you notice about Chase Coughlin is how hard he works on the ice. He plays a fast-paced game in which he is always pressuring the puck carrier. He is a very quick player and uses his speed to relentlessly chase opposing players and aggressively battle for possession of the puck. During board battles, Coughlan uses his strong defensive stick to take away control of the puck and change the momentum of the play. He is reliable at both ends of the ice due to his strong 200-foot game.
His speed is noticeable at both ends of the ice and makes him a strong transitional player. When the puck is on his stick, Coughlan can carry it with speed and control and defenders have a hard time knocking him off the puck. He uses not just his speed, but also his quick feet to suddenly change his direction to get defenders off of his tail. He is a strong skater with good edges as well and can get to top speed fairly quickly. Coughlan is also really quick to get into the game. Right as the puck drops he is already playing at full speed and does a good job recovering pucks and taking shots to try and catch goaltenders off guard.
Coughlan is the type of player who can be relied upon in almost any situation. He is strong on the penalty kill and on the power play as well. He has a high-motor and can play on a top line with and against the best of his age group.
